“Just look for birds.” This was the advice of a new South African friend. The variety of birds In Kruger are abundant and interesting, and by looking for birds, we would not be disappointed if we didn’t see specific animals we hoped for.
It was brilliant advice, and we found that it applies to scenery as well. We had days that the only animals we saw seemed to be endless herds of impala. And while we kept willing those lions to jump out into a herd of impala for us, we allowed ourselves to focus on birds, and on the variety of landscape Kruger National Park provided.
So I wanted to share a few of my favorite non-wildlife shots from our Kruger travel. People were shocked at how successful our Kruger trip was, and I know that we were very lucky to see so much wildlife. But I also know that we were enjoying that trip no matter what we saw. We took it slow, wandered back roads, and stopped as we felt like it, to view nothing but a riverbed, a field, or a distant mountain.
Love, Marla
