Today I am 45. Here is My Wish…

Today I turn 45. It’s hard to believe time has gone so far since this photo of me was taken after a tumble at my older brother’s birthday party…

I used to LOVE reading. From Pokey Little Puppy and other Golden Books, to Just So Stories, then later Nancy Drew and Wizard of Oz – the complete collection!

Books were written just for me…in English. If those books had been in any other language, I would not be the person I am today.  Reading has been proven to create empathy and compassion.

Help me give that to children of indigenous languages, by helping me donate literature in their own language, and helping me fund a local organization dedicated to children’s literacy.

Reading to children just makes my heart swell. Can you imagine being a parent who does not speak or read English well? Wouldn't it be wonderful to have books in your own language to read to your children, to impart that love in them?

If everyone reading this can help me with this project, by giving only $4.50 (R45) it would fulfill my wish. Or maybe you can’t manage $4.50, but you could share this 45 times? 😉

If you are a regular reader, you know I love helping others. I’d like to use my birthday wish for just that. I’m trying to raise funds for two laptops (for Puku.co.za) and to purchase books for children in their indigenous language.

Please see my fundraising page here, and please give $4.50 or more.
