I need to find myself. Can you help me?
Okay, I know exactly where I am. But I need to disconnect from the internet for our move. While I can always grab service on my phone or at Starbucks, I think I’m going to be hella-swamped and would like to know I have the last few weeks before our move to South Africa to just focus on getting the house finished packing.
So I thought it would be fun if some of my favorite bloggers might consider each taking a day and writing a post (short or long, photos or not) in the theme of “If Marla’s blog were mine, it would be _____________” and make it your own for that day – using your interests, your art, your humor, your poetry, your fitness focus, ANYTHING! Hell, if you even just start with “Marla made me write this, but it has nothing to do with her narcissistic self” that would be great! Be yourself. You’re my dream team because you’re you!
And if you’re a reader and always wanted to try your hand at blogging, volunteer to write me a guest post as well! You’ve been reading my posts and you might have some quite funny or insightful things to put out there (you know who you are!)
I would like to include a photo of you (headshot or whatever your primary photo for your blog is) in the post, and there would be plenty of link-backs during your post, and at the end of each post during the guest blog-period, I will give readers another link to each of your blogs.
And I’ll encourage my readers to check out your blog and to comment on things they wish I could learn or incorporate from each of you.

I know I’ve listed more than three weeks worth of people, but I also know how busy people are, and I will be lucky to have even a few of these wonderful bloggers submit a guest post. But I can dream!

I just have to do it this way because I can’t give access to a couple dozen people on the account while I’m gone. I won’t edit you unless you want me to. Whatever you want to say, it’s your day to say it. Maybe you don’t want to say anything and just post photos. Maybe you want to copy and paste one of your favorite posts or photos or drawings to introduce my readers to your “best.” That’s fine, too!

Today’s photos are in memory of my mom. It’s been five years today since Pancreatic Cancer took her away from so many people who loved her. Coworkers from Joy Mining Machinery gave me a gift certificate to a nursery when she died, and I used it to purchase the weeping cherry tree.
It blooms every year at this time. Mom and I also shared a love of daffodils and buttercups, forget-me-nots and lilies of the valley. They are abundant around my home here in Lover, PA and it helps a little at this time of year to see them blooming.

Yay! I need it no later than next Sunday, May 6th. I’m going offline the 7th, so whatever I have by then I’m going to schedule for the following three weeks. If I only have enough bloggers for a week, then I’ll fill the rest of the time with a photo a day or something quick. But I think it would be fun for my readers to see who I’m reading.

No, no, I don’t want to blog but just couldn’t help myself commenting re: your pic of paperwhites. I never heard them called that before. We called them narcissus when I was a kid. Then you stick in the comment about your “narcissistic self.” Ah, so, I just thot it was funny.
I’ve been thinking about your mom a lot lately; must be the vibes from heaven. Love the cherry tree reminder blooming at this poignant time of year. What a 3 Muskateers crew we were, her, Evelyn, & me in the old days and reconnecting thru the years. Loved her too. BFF since 2nd grade, she & I.
Ginny, Yes, you’re right. They are narcissus, and way to catch the connection.
The popular term for the tinier, thinner narcissus is “paperwhite.” I actually call them narcissus at home, but if I had used referred to the flowers as narcissus and then used the narcissistic expression, i think it would have been too obvious, and I’ve been working harder to be more subtle and just let whoever catches the connections catch them, and whoever doesn’t just enjoy the surface read.
So thank you. It’s nice to know it made you stop and think about it.
Thanks for your kind note about Mom. I can’t imagine having friends that last so long, and it’s nice that you three kept getting back together over the years.
P.S. A note that drives my ocd crazy: I always want to call them narcissi in plural, but apparently the American Daffodil Society says “screw the Greeks” or something like that 😉 and that both singular and plural when applied to the flower, is narcissus.
