Were You There? Coshocton Fair Photoblog

Coshocton County Fair horses
4 Horses rear-ends? Ha. Maybe just one…or two
With Kurt and his co-worker Craig at the Coshocton County Fair.

I wish I had more days to explore the Coshocton County Fair, but we were still getting settled here, and I had prior commitments out of town. But I did manage to have one wonderful evening there, with my husband and his co-worker.

It might not surprise you to know that my favorite part is the food. Where else am I going to find lemon shake-ups, caramel apples, cotton candy and hot sausage sammies all in one location? My non-food favs are the 4-H competitions and heck yeah…the tractor pull!

Do you enjoy fairs? What is your favorite part of going to a fair? The rides? The livestock? The events? The food? The games? Kurt won me a giant stuffed cow once, and I won myself a goldfish. (Poor goldfish 🙁 ).

Tell me what you love. Is it the carnies? It’s the carnies, isn’t it? Tell the truth… 😉

Love, Marla

  1. Hard to put my finger on what I like the most about fairs. I like being able to talk with people I hardly see except at community things, the food is always good, and I like walking through exhibit and vendor buildings. Ever since my girls have been in marching band as Majorettes and Silks (Color Guard) I enjoy watching those performances too. I can’t ride anything unless I’m drugged with Dramamine so I’ve learned to enjoy just walking around and checking things out.

    1. I love walking the buildings, yeah. I am always curious what makes one item a blue ribbon while another doesn’t even place. It’s never usually obvious to me in the crafts, and sometimes I get worked up when I see a photograph practically leap off the table and see it didn’t place. I don’t think I could be a judge, that’s for sure, hahaha.
I know what you mean about the rides, too. I really miss that.

  2. Definitely the carnies. And the people: their posturing: teenage boys trying to look nonchalant as they present stuffed animals to girls after shows of prowess; their abandon: adults and kids alike with nothing but chickens and cotton candy on their minds… I love watching people at play 🙂

    1. Yeah, Kurt said I could have done a whole skit on the carnies we ran into at this fair. People are the best attraction at any event, aren’t they?
